On Monday, Dec. 6, officers were called shortly before 10:30 p.m. to investigate a dispute between two drivers along the interstate that led to a shooting.
According to police, the preliminary investigation determined that a fight broke out between the drivers of a silver Ford F-150 pick-up truck and a dark sedan on Monday night near the outer loop of I-695 at Exit 15 (US 40).
It is alleged that the dispute continued along the northbound lanes of I-95 - near the 49.5-mile marker - when the driver of the sedan began shooting at the pick-up truck near the entrance to the northbound I-95 Express Toll Lanes.
The driver of the Ford was struck at least once and was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation of injuries that were described as being non-life-threatening by police investigators.
Police say that the shooting investigation is open and active and that the shooter remains at large.
Anyone who may have witnessed the violence, the events leading up to it, or has information on either driver has been asked to contact the MDTA Police Department by calling (443) 915-7729.
